Job Description:
Security Controls Assessor (SCA) will provide support to the Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of security controls and safeguards for identified information systems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Validate applicable cybersecurity controls for assigned systems, including developing the appropriate test procedures if necessary, executing the test procedures and accurately documenting the results of security testing
Perform the requisite preparatory steps, perform the actual validation steps, compares the actual results with the expected results, and analyzes the differences for impact and risk
Assist in the development of the validation support documentation, including, but not limited to, the Security Assessment Report (SAR), post validation system brief, and starter plan of action and milestones (POA&M)
Provide the Marine Corps Intelligence AO and other cybersecurity leadership personnel with an accurate technical evaluation of the application, system, or network, documenting the security posture, capabilities and vulnerabilities against relevant cybersecurity controls, and drafting a statement of preliminary or residual security risks for system operation
3 years of cybersecurity validation and/or cybersecurity control evaluation experience
3 years supporting Federal or DoD customers
Desired Qualifications:
Risk Management Framework (RMF) Navy Qualified Validator Training
3 years’ experience utilizing Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) or other Assessment and Authorization (A&A) management system
5+ years cybersecurity validation and/or cybersecurity control evaluation experience
5+ years cybersecurity tool use experience (i.e., ACAS, Nmap, STIGViewer)

High School Diploma

Physical, Work Environment & Conditions:
Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
Occasional standing while working in server rooms or at patch panels.
Must be able to lift and move moderately heavy equipment (e.g., routers, switches, servers) typically up to 30–50 pounds.
Manual Dexterity required for connecting cables, configuring devices, and handling small tools or components.
Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
Ability to distinguish color-coded cabling and indicator lights.
Must be able to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces for cable runs or equipment installation.
May require walking between different buildings or workstations.
Must be able to communicate clearly with technical teams and end-users.
May need to hear alarms, server beeps, or equipment noises indicating issues
