Job Description: The Pass & ID Specialist provides front line credentialing and access control services at the NMIC, ensuring compliance with ONI, DON, and DoD security directives. This role processes visitor and employee identification, operates credentialing systems, monitors uncleared personnel, and supports digital fingerprinting. Specialists maintain accountability for personnel, vehicles, and property entering/leaving the facility and deliver exceptional customer service while safeguarding classified environments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Credentialing & Badging:
Produce, issue, and retrieve identification badges, access cards, keys, and vehicle tags.
Operate ONI/DON/DoD credentialing systems (AccessNsite, DBIDS, Salto) and maintain accurate records.
Protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and comply with privacy regulations.
Visitor Processing & Monitoring:
Verify identity and authorization for all visitors and employees entering NMIC.
Monitor uncleared personnel to prevent unauthorized access to classified areas.
Digital Fingerprinting:
Capture and submit fingerprints using Government provided equipment; comply with federal standards.
Access Control Compliance:
Enforce ONI identification procedures and security rules, report unsafe or noncompliant conditions.
Customer Service:
Provide courteous, professional assistance to visitors, employees, and interagency partners.
Reporting & Documentation:
Record daily activities, badge inventories, and access updates; assist with monthly service certifications.
Required Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; professional conduct in all communications with Sponsor and interagency partners.
Confidence, ability to maintain professional conduct and appearance, maintain compliance with ONI standards.
Familiarity with access control systems and credentialing processes.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict security protocols.
Ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive credentialing tasks.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience in access control, credentialing, or security operations preferred.
Completion of Government IA training/certification per DoD 8570.01 M prior to system duties; annual Cyber Awareness training; SAAR N submission for network access (after hire).
Active TS/SCI; must maintain SCI eligibility (SSBI/T5/T5R), comply with ICD 704, and meet Sponsor nomination/briefing requirements.

Typical office environment:
Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
Occasional standing while working in server rooms or at patch panels.
Manual Dexterity required for connecting cables, configuring devices, and handling small tools or components.
Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
Ability to distinguish color-coded cabling and indicator lights.
May require walking between different buildings or workstations.
Must be able to communicate clearly with technical teams and end-users.
May need to hear alarms, server beeps, or equipment noises indicating issues
