Senior AV Technician

The A/V Specialist will be the technical support authority for all matters pertaining to the on-site maintenance and operations of Audio/Video (A/V) architecture, Video Teleconference (VTC) and Video wall systems at Nellis AFB in Nevada. 

Primary Duties and Requirements:
  • Maintain functionality of A/V systems (identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any failures).
  • Provide A/V System Support as needed:
  • Assist USAF on-site personnel with any A/V equipment issues.
  • Provide training to USAF on-site personnel on operation of conference rooms or other equipment.
  • Provide corrective and preventative maintenance on the A/V system.
  • Maintain detailed troubleshooting log of all failures and resolution.
  • Maintain PMI log.
  • Participate in weekly action item VTC with technical staff.
  • Give accurate updates to action items to help resolve all issues as quickly as possible.
  • Keep software updated as required (especially antivirus software).
  • Maintain accurate inventory lists of all A/V equipment and software.  Record serial numbers of new equipment and equipment that breaks and//or is replaced.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation (i.e. technical manuals, test procedures, inventory database, drawings, etc.)
  • Use SharePoint as a source of information.
  • Use drawings for understanding system architecture.
  • Document and post/receive any “lessons learned”.
  • Reporting
  • Monthly reports provided to Supervisor.
  • Provide accurate trouble log and PMI log to Supervisor.
  • Review and assist with action items list for weekly VTCs.
  • Maintain system level accreditation with DAA.
  • Implementation and testing of IA patches/updates.
  • Assist with maintaining IA site accreditation.
  • Run IA scans on equipment/systems.
  • Work to mitigate any issues with the IA scans.
Required Qualifications (Essential Functions of job):
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in operation and maintenance of audio/video equipment /systems; ten (10) years preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting drawings, specifications, blueprints, and other related documents.
  • Knowledgeable in the following fields within the past 5 years:
    • Install low voltage wiring and cable; solder and terminate connectors; wire equipment racks
    • Assembly of equipment/devices using the appropriate supports/mounts
    • Integration of audio and video teleconferencing systems
    • Cable termination (Fiber, copper, audio, etc.)
    • Analog, SDI and HD SDI signal processing and conversion
  • Required Training/Certifications include:
    • DoD 8570 compliance:
      • CompTIA Security+ CE certification required
Desired Qualifications:
  • Evertz equipment configuration certification (desired)
  • Crestron DMC-E Training certification (desired)
  • Knowledgeable in the following fields in the past five years: voice and video IP, video teleconferencing, Intelligence, Reconnaissance, and Surveillance operations (desired)
